When you have your personal folders containing your personal data and photos on your system, you would surely prefer to keep them password protected to keep them far away from the access of other people. This task can be managed quite easily with the help of any third-party tool as there are many freeware specifically built to protect Folders in Windows 8.1. Usually the users on a shared computer need to password protect their data and so, they can use the method we are going to discuss today. You just need to follow a few steps to complete this task. 1. First, click here to download “My LockBox” that is a third-party and provides complete protection to your personal folders.

2. Once you have downloaded it, you need to double-click to the “Exe” file to install it to Windows 8.1.

3. When you have completed the installation, a dialogue box appears on your screen where you need to write the password and give a hint to help you in recalling your password if you forget it. Here you also need to type your email address as you can recover your password through that email address if ever you forget your password. Click “OK” to close the window.

4. Now you will be asked to select a folder that you want to be password protected. It can be selected by using the “Browse” option.

5. Once you have selected the folder, no one except you would be able to see your folder that is a password protected folder now.

6. Now make trying to open the folder that is password protected. You will see a message to enter a password to open that folder. It shows you have successfully done your job.
